End of the Bush Era Illustration #4 FINAL

So I've come a long way since my original illustration concept. Time to take out the trash. Out with the old, in with the new. So long, George.

Sullivan Holiday card

Sullivan Holiday Card 2008, Rochester, NY

It's always a good idea in the beginning when you say "yeah sure, no problem" when your girlfriend's mother asks you if you can do caricatures of them for their annual holiday card. It seems like a "piece of cake/no-brainer/I can do this with my eyes closed" moment.

...But then you start doing it, and you realize what you've done. Yeah it's all fun and games until you realize that you have alot of likenesses to capture (specifically likenesses of non-famous average all-american people). You realize there are health and beauty preservation issues to consider while inking each caricature (one stroke out of place adds 10 years). You want to make sure your girlfriend looks beautiful and not goofy. And then there's the time limit. Gotta get it done ASAP, or both her Mom and my Mom will crucify me (never under estimate Mom-pressure from both angles).

But alas, I finished it, the card was fun to do, and it will get mailed to 350 family members, friends, and clients of Jackie's family.

5x7, Ink and Digital coloring.

Monster doodle - Go Celtics!

Yes, yes, I'm from New York, but I'm enjoying the Celtics dominant run during the NBA season and playoffs. It's nice seeing the return of the Celtics to the playoffs. I'm not saying I'm a Celtics fan, but I enjoy seeing new teams in the playoffs, especially ones that are returning to their past glory.
